Visitor/participant says "Being in a shelter isn't that different from living in a prison, other than that you can come and go... "

This woman shared a deeply moving story of how she was hit by a drunk driver and paralyzed. She then lost her job, became an alcoholic, lost her family and ended up living in a shelter. Finally, she said, now — eleven years later — she's started learning to walk again and had begun studying to become a social worker. Her message was: "you've gotta have hope!"
